NightRace is Driving Experience Japan’s event layer, sitting alongside the job board as a separate way to earn cars, banners, and Yen. It arrived in the V1.0 era alongside Farmer and phone features, and V1.3 expanded it with touge race events on the Hakusan mountain. NightRace is not the Lucky Box at spawn. The Lucky Box has two Hiace vans, a free daily around 8pm JST, a 750,000 Yen normal box with a 35-roll cap, and elite Robux. NightRace is a gashapon banner and a race tracker. Keep them separate in your head and your wallet.
How NightRace works
NightRace appears as a banner and prize machine in the Hakusan area after V1.3. It is not a briefcase shift like Taxi or Courier. You drive the mountain, hit event markers, and the banner tallies your result against a table of prizes.
Unlike the spawn Lucky Box, NightRace does not have a published pity mechanic or roll cap. The prizes refresh when the banner cycle ends. V1.3 added race touge events — timed runs up Hakusan that award cars directly rather than just banner currency.
Public servers hold six players. A NightRace session can fill with other drivers working the same banner. That is normal, not interference.

Do not mix these two sinks. The Lucky Box at spawn is the grindable gacha with known prices. NightRace is the event layer with event-dependent rewards.
How to enter NightRace
- Drive from Kyoto to Hakusan. If Kyoto streets do not feel automatic, finish getting started first.
- Find the NightRace banner in the Hakusan area. It looks like a prize board, not a job tablet.
- Enter the current event. V1.3 touge races are timed runs — bring a car you can brake with.
- Complete the run. Results show on the banner. Prizes credit to your garage.
NightRace does not need a special car class, but Hakusan events reward cars that handle mountain roads. A replaceable A-tier sports car is the safe entry point. Do not bring a limited hyperscar or a van you cannot afford to lose.

The exact prize table changes per banner cycle. RayshStudios has not published a stable pool in patch notes. When a race awards a car, screenshot the result and check the changelog for community-confirmed prizes. Until then, treat reward cars as event-dependent.
Kilometer rewards and level rewards from V1.3 stack on top of NightRace earnings. You do not need to choose between job Yen and event prizes — both accumulate while you drive.

NightRace is the reason many drivers stay in DEJP after the first ten hours. The mountain at night, headlights on, clean lines, and a banner that remembers your time. V1.3 made this a competition with touge race events.

How to budget for NightRace
NightRace is not a replacement for jobs. Delivery pays about 400,000 Yen per stop. Farmer unlocks at level 25 on Kameoka. Run these loops first so your garage has a work van and a spare sports car before you enter an event.
Entry order:
- Redeem codes from the trophy.
- Run two or three delivery stops.
- Buy a replaceable kei van and a cheap sports car.
- Roll the free Lucky Box once at spawn.
- Enter NightRace on Hakusan with the sports car.
- Farm more Yen. Repeat.
Do not sell the van for a NightRace entry fee. A crashed van means no more courier stops. A crashed sports car means one fewer NightRace car — which is recoverable.
